[ Besides everything? Besides nothing? Phainon shouldn’t ask. It’s none of his business, and maybe this stranger should be given the dignity of not being questioned about this where anyone might see.
But it’s done. And maybe a part of him hopes that the story isn’t the same as it always is.
That somewhere what had to be done didn’t end on a mountain of corpses and seas of blood. ]
[It's small alright, but at least it's clean and he can exist comfortably in it. For Gregor's purposes, it's all he can ask for.
He's sitting on his bed with his back propped against the wall when Ishmael arrives, dressed in similarly plain clothes. His watch has been strapped to his bug arm so he can actually type on the thing.
He offers her a wave with his left hand. In spite of the circumstances, he's still happy to see a familiar face.]
Yo. Take a seat wherever.
["Wherever" basically meaning the at the shabby desk nearby.]
[ she stands there, stunned, mouth slightly agape. ]
It... really is you.
[ she takes a couple steps forward, and... decides to hang by at the doorjamb. she'll take a seat eventually, just. let her take this all in for a minute. ]
How are you doing? Did anyone hit on you yet? [ going straight to the point as usual, ]
[Damn, it's almost like Ishmael's seen a ghost. But it sounds like with the time discrepancy going on, it really must have been a while since she last saw any of the other sinners...
He sits up and shuffles to the edge of the bed, opening his mouth to answer...but instead chokes a little.]
N-No. But I've been talking to people. There's more people like me here than I would've ever imagined.
[That's not particularly encouraging... Well, the part about Ishmael still being stuck in the basement. Her words of encouragement for him are pretty surprising.
He almost responds with "really?", but he knows Ishmael doesn't just say stuff like that if she doesn't mean it.]
Wow. That's kind of you to say, Ishmael. I guess we'll see where things go, huh?
Is there anything outside of the game I can do to help you out?
[Boy, Gregor's wingman sure got a lot of mileage out of this profile. Gregor's honestly not sure if he's glad about it or not. The networking is good, but...]
It's more obvious in person, but you can kind of see it in the second picture. I don't have a typical right arm.
Then it's good that I mentioned it. It does depend on what your suit is. You may find a tattoo or mark of some sort on your body with the one you have been given.
Find that and I might be able to tell you.
[ If this were video there would a curious 'hm' from Viktor. He does wish so badly to see it for himself in person... ]
Incredible. [ Viktor?? Please calm yourself. ]
I would like to see it for myself in person sometime.
@greatestworks
Former, but yeah. It sounds like we've had very different experiences.
Well, that's not completely true. There was camaraderie and purpose in the beginning. Didn't amount to much, though.
Gently referenced 3.4 spoilers, cw: death

Yeah well so was the person who did this to me without my consent.
At least you apologized, I guess.

At the very least, we're in the same boat in that regard.

Apology accepted.
You got operated on too? I can't figure out why you'd want to turn around and do the same thing.

I should be asking you that. You're the one who needs more help here than me, frankly.

Well, could you give me a tour of the place sometime? I'd feel better having a guide than wandering around alone.

@entirelymyown
In this context it's probably about how some people like obviously nonhuman things. My right arm's insectoid.
Really wish my wingman didn't make it a talking point, but yeah.
Re: @entirelymyown
It doesn't really matter much to me either way, regarding 'non-human' things. I'm not human though.
Is that all right?
no subject
Yeah, it's all right. It's actually kinda reassuring to have people I can relate to around here.
[And relate to in a way that doesn't remind him of his awful past.]

What???
[He doesn't even know what else to say to that. Hello??]

It is. My whole arm's insectoid, exoskeleton and all.

It's full-on insectoid, exoskeleton and all. It's never molted in all the years I've been with it, but it does regrow.
